Hi All!
It’s taken me a while to post this recipe, because I’ve been out of town visiting family, a wedding, and getting engaged myself! With that said, here goes:
This next recipe is from my Grandma, Teodora, and very simple to make. This was an average morning or evening meal for my grandma, and many others, growing up. It doesn’t take many ingredients and is filling. I remember eating it as a child, prepared by my grandma, but when I called her up to get this recipe, I couldn’t believe how easy it was to make, and that it actually tasted good! The ingredients aren’t super flavorful, but when it all comes together, it’s really good. Whip this up and see for yourself!
Yields: 4 servings
Ingredients:
3 cups whole milk
6 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons corn starch
Directions:
1) In a medium sized pot, add 2 cups milk, sugar, and salt. Stir over low heat.
2) In a small bowl, dissolve corn starch in remaining 1 cup milk. Be sure to stir until there are no clumps. Add to the pot, bring up to medium heat, and stir frequently for approximately 10-12 minutes or until porridge has thickened. Top with cinnamon or brown sugar.
